Organist/Accompanist Judy Schetler
Judy Schetler became our church organist/pianist upon her mother’s retirement in September, 2008. Judy’s mother, Marion Bradley, served as a church organist for a total of 67 years – at Riverside Methodist Church for 21 years and at Broad Street United Methodist Church for 46 years.
Marion began teaching Judy the piano at age 4. When Judy was 14, Marion said, “Your legs are long enough now to reach the organ pedals,” and the two spent a few Saturday mornings on the organ bench at the Riverside church.
Music has always been a very important part of Judy’s life. She has enjoyed singing in numerous choirs and vocal groups, beginning with duets in church with her brother Bob at age 5. She served as organist at the Jacksonville Presbyterian Church for a number of years and also was substitute organist at many churches throughout Burlington County.
Judy retired in 2010 after 25 years of service to the residents of Springfield Township, in the capacity of Treasurer, Deputy Township Clerk and Secretary to the Planning and Zoning Boards. She thoroughly enjoyed her interaction with the public and her coworkers during her career with Springfield Township.
However, the job she considered most important above all else was the rearing of her three daughters, Melanie, Carolyn and April. She has also been blessed in recent years with four grandsons: Joshua, Ryan, Jackson and Alexander.
Judy considers it a privilege to share her love of music and of the Lord with the congregation of the Broad Street United Methodist Church.
